Good questions

Questions people ask a lot

Tap a question to open the answer.

Will digitizing ruin or erase my original tapes? +

No. Playing a tape to copy it does not erase it. We also show you how to store originals safely afterward — you keep everything.

Do I have to mail my tapes to you? +

Never. That’s the whole point of RVT — your irreplaceable memories stay home with you. You digitize them yourself with our guides or our digitizer, and nothing precious gets shipped to strangers.

My tape is really old. Is it too late? +

Usually not — but tapes do fade over time, so sooner is better. Our guide shows the warning signs to check, and you can always send us a photo to ask.

What file will I get back, and will it last? +

Standard files that play on any phone or computer — MP4 for video, MP3 for audio — stored wherever you choose. Our guides show the best format so your memories last for decades.
